CANTE DE LAS MINAS HAS ITS POSTER FOR 2014
Yesterday afternoon, the Regional Assembly of Murcia received the presentation of the poster for this year’s International Festival del Cante de las Minas, which was the work of sculptor and engraver Cristina Iglesias.
The work, a spectacular composition of lattices representing the harsh conditions of work of the miner, was presented by its author, who received unanimous praise from those present for the extreme uniqueness and tremendous expressive power of the image.
Our Mayor and CEO of the Cante de las Minas Foundation, Francisco Bernabé, specifically thanked the generosity of Iglesias, one of the undisputed leaders of contemporary art worldwide, who made this fantastic gesture altruistically donating her work to the people of La Unión.
In addition, two hundred people attending the event enjoyed a magnificent cante recital by Jeromo Segura, winner of the Lámpara Minera 2013, who masterfully performed a varied repertoire of flamenco singing in which there was no lack several typical pieces our Sierra Minera.
Noteworthy was the significant representation of personalities who did not want to miss the event, including Councilors of the Municipal Government, leading representatives of politics, military, police force, social entities, academic leaders, businessmen and representatives of culture from throughout the region of Murcia.
